Our story starts in 1936 with Walter P. Wyen and Xenia Auto Wrecking. For over two decades, Walter honed his expertise in used vehicle parts, gaining invaluable knowledge that would lay the foundation for Walt’s Auto Inc. After closing Xenia Auto Wrecking in 1958, Walter’s vision didn’t fade. In May 1960, with his sons by his side after their graduation, he embarked on a new venture, purchasing 32 acres in Springfield, Ohio to establish Walt’s Auto Inc. This marked the official beginning of our commitment to providing quality springfield car parts.
In the early days, operations relied on the methods common to salvage yards of the time – torch wagons and boom trucks. However, Walter was always looking towards the future. As Walt’s Auto Inc. expanded, Walter recognized the need for modernization. In 1977, he invested in new equipment, including a MAC crusher and a large forklift, demonstrating his commitment to efficiency and better service for springfield car parts customers. Though Walter sadly passed away in 1979, his family carried on his legacy, ensuring the continued success and growth of the business.
Further advancements followed as we embraced technology to enhance our inventory management. The introduction of the AIMS Inventory System marked a significant step forward, replacing traditional tags and cards with organized digital tracking. Then, in 1985, we constructed our current 20,000 square-foot facility. This expansion provided dedicated spaces for our office, sales, showroom, warehouse, dismantling, and stockroom – all designed to streamline operations and better serve those seeking springfield car parts.
