2024 Ram Rampage: The Compact Pickup Truck Taking Brazil by Storm

The all-new 2024 Ram Rampage has made a striking debut in Brazil, introducing a compact, unibody pickup that echoes the design language of the larger Ram 1500. This new model has clearly resonated with Brazilian consumers, evidenced by its incredibly rapid initial sales.

Ram announced that the first allocation of 500 Ram Rampage 2024 pickups was completely sold out within a mere 28 minutes of online orders opening. These initial 500 vehicles were equipped with the Elite Pack as standard, an option typically priced at approximately $1,250 (6,000 Brazilian Reais). This package adds premium features such as LED daytime running lights, a power-adjustable passenger seat, and a high-end 10-speaker Harmon-Kardon sound system.

Due to the overwhelming demand and swift sell-out, Ram quickly responded by releasing an additional 1,100 Ram Rampage 2024 pickups. This increased availability, bringing the total to 1,600 units, also sold out completely, highlighting the strong market reception for the new compact truck.

The Ram Rampage is offered in three distinct trim levels to cater to various preferences: the Rebel, Laramie, and R/T. Pricing ranges from around $50,000 to $56,250 USD (239,990 to 269,990 Brazilian Reais). The relatively high price point in Brazil is largely attributed to the country’s substantial 54 percent tax on vehicles. To illustrate, a Ford Maverick in Lariat FX4 2.0 4WD trim is priced at 244,890 Reais, or roughly $51,014 USD. In comparison, a similarly equipped Ford Maverick in the United States would cost approximately $32,800, demonstrating the impact of Brazilian taxes on vehicle prices.

The Rebel and Laramie trims of the 2024 Ram Rampage offer two engine choices: a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine producing 170 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, or a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine generating 272 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The sport-focused R/T trim is exclusively powered by the gasoline engine. All Ram Rampage 2024 models come standard with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, ensuring capable performance and handling.

Inside, the Ram Rampage boasts a modern and well-equipped cabin with available features such as a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless smartphone integration. Additional available amenities include dual-zone climate control, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and parking sensors, enhancing both comfort and safety.

Deliveries of the 2024 Ram Rampage in Brazil are set to commence in August. Adding to the anticipation, rumors persist about Ram potentially introducing the Rampage to the United States market. Such a move would position the Ram Rampage 2024 as a direct competitor to established compact pickups like the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz.

During the development phase of the Rampage, the Brazilian engineering team collaborated with Ram’s US-based truck engineers, indicating a global effort in creating this new model. Furthermore, spy photographs have surfaced showing the Ram Rampage undergoing testing in the United States, further fueling speculation about its potential North American availability.

The 2024 Ram Rampage has clearly made a strong initial impact in Brazil, and its future prospects, potentially including a launch in the US market, remain a topic of considerable interest in the automotive world.
