Tesla Model X Plaid: 0-60 MPH in 2.3 Seconds – The World’s Fastest SUV

The Tesla Model X Plaid has officially arrived, and early reviews are showcasing its mind-blowing performance. This electric SUV, boasting a tri-motor powertrain, is not just fast; it’s record-breaking. Initial tests reveal the Model X Plaid launching from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 2.3 seconds – even quicker than Tesla’s own advertised figures.

While the Model S Plaid garnered significant attention as the “fastest production car,” the Model X Plaid, unveiled concurrently, has quietly emerged as the king of SUVs. Despite arriving months later and perhaps lacking the outright headline appeal of its sedan sibling, the Model X Plaid definitively claims the title of the quickest accelerating SUV on the planet.

Tesla’s official performance specifications for the Model X Plaid are already impressive:

  • Officially the fastest accelerating SUV in production
  • 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds
  • Quarter-mile in 9.9 seconds
  • Pumping out 1,020 horsepower
  • Powered by three high-performance motors with carbon-sleeved rotors
  • Features torque vectoring for enhanced handling

However, it appears Tesla has once again understated their vehicle’s capabilities, choosing to overdeliver on performance expectations with the Model X Plaid.

Vehicle Virgins recently published a driving review with a compelling point-of-view perspective of the new Model X Plaid. Crucially, their review included a 0-60 mph acceleration test conducted using launch mode.

The results, captured by a Vbox performance measurement system, were astonishing. The Model X Plaid achieved a 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 2.3 seconds.

This remarkable 2.3-second time is a full 0.2 seconds faster than Tesla’s advertised figure, solidifying the Model X Plaid’s position as the undisputed quickest accelerating SUV available today. Tesla has been fulfilling orders for the updated Model X for several months, but deliveries of the high-performance Plaid version, with a starting price of $126,500, have only recently commenced.

Demand for this groundbreaking electric SUV is substantial, with current delivery estimates for new orders stretching into October 2022. The Model X Plaid is not just an SUV; it’s a statement of electric vehicle performance, redefining what’s possible in the segment.
