Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) has announced its 2024 year-end sales results, revealing a significant contribution from Lexus, which marked its best-ever full-year sales in its 35-year history. This success is largely attributed to the brand’s strong performance in the electrified vehicle segment. Lexus’s commitment to providing diverse powertrain options, coupled with its luxury appeal, has resonated strongly with customers, driving sales and solidifying its position in the competitive automotive market.
In 2024, Lexus achieved an all-time sales record, demonstrating robust growth and customer demand. The luxury division of Toyota reported a total of 123,035 electrified vehicle sales, a remarkable 34.4 percent increase compared to the previous year. This surge in electrified vehicle sales means that over 35 percent of all Lexus vehicles sold in 2024 were electrified models. This impressive figure underscores Lexus’s successful strategy in embracing electrification while maintaining its luxury and performance standards.
The Lexus RX is projected to maintain its position as the top-selling mid-luxury SUV for the 26th consecutive year, a testament to its enduring popularity and market leadership. Several Lexus models experienced significant year-end sales growth. Sales of Lexus total Luxury Utility Vehicles (LUVs) increased by 10 percent, while the RC model saw a rise of 5.8 percent. The Lexus ES series also performed strongly, with total ES sales increasing by 10.3 percent, and the ES HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) variant soaring by 45.8 percent. Notably, the Lexus RZ, a dedicated battery electric vehicle, witnessed an impressive 80 percent sales increase, indicating growing consumer interest in Lexus’s all-electric offerings.
Hybrid models within the Lexus lineup also contributed significantly to the brand’s electrified sales success. The NX HEV saw a 26.6 percent increase, while its Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) counterpart, the NX PHEV, grew by 19.7 percent. The RX series also showed strong hybrid performance, with RX HEV sales up by 30.1 percent and RX PHEV sales experiencing an exceptional surge of 547.6 percent. The all-new TX model also made a strong impact, with total TX sales increasing by an impressive 249.2 percent, and TX HEV sales up by 316.6 percent, demonstrating the successful introduction and customer reception of new Lexus models in 2024.
Lexus’s record-breaking sales in 2024 highlight the brand’s successful navigation of the evolving automotive landscape. By offering a comprehensive range of electrified vehicles and continuing to innovate within the luxury segment, Lexus has solidified its position as a leader. The introduction of customer-centric digital retail platforms like Monogram for Lexus further enhances the customer experience, contributing to the brand’s overall success. Looking ahead, Lexus is poised to continue its growth trajectory, driven by its commitment to electrification and luxury, promising an exciting future for the brand and its discerning clientele.
