Two weeks ago, an ordinary drive transformed into an extraordinary event as my wife went into labor with our second child. Our destination was the hospital, but destiny had a different route planned. We reached the hospital grounds, yet the delivery room was still out of reach. In a surprising turn of events, our son decided to make his entrance into the world right there in the passenger seat of our car, assisted by an ER nurse who was coincidentally on her lunch break.
The past couple of weeks have been a period of reflection on this intense experience. My work often involves reporting on global health issues, from international forums to remote regions. This personal event has resonated deeply with my understanding of maternal health challenges worldwide.
