Back to the Future “B Car”: Relic of Time Travel Wreckage Acquired!

We’re revved up to announce the latest, and perhaps most unique, addition to our Back to the Future collection, arriving on November 19, 2019! Prepare to witness the “B” stunt car, a vehicle heavily utilized across all three iconic films, though what remains is a testament to its cinematic demise.

This isn’t your pristine, showroom DeLorean. This is what’s left of the “B” car – the very one dramatically destroyed by the train in the climactic scenes of Back to the Future Part III. Following its on-screen destruction, the remnants of the body panels were entrusted to the legendary customizer Jay Ohrberg. He masterfully constructed a square tube frame, upon which he grafted the battered body panels, along with a set of original, screen-used train wheels. Even the hood box, currently detached but soon to be reunited with the car, is an authentic piece – originating from our Part III desert DeLorean, no less!

This hood box boasts its own fascinating history. Initially used for promotional events, it was later acquired by Planet Hollywood and suspended upside down from the ceiling of their Hawaiian restaurant. When the restaurant doors closed, it entered storage, until we recently procured it at auction. We are absolutely ecstatic with this acquisition! It fits perfectly within the space typically occupied by our pristine Part III DeLorean, which is currently starring in the major BTTF exhibit at the Hollywood Museum in LA, running until December 6th for a year-long showcase.

Our vision is to mount this battle-scarred beauty on train tracks, complete with a striking mural of a Ventura County Railway Alco S6 locomotive as a backdrop. We believe this display will truly capture the dramatic end of this iconic vehicle.

Adding another layer of intrigue, we discovered “cave art” etched onto the panels – a hallmark of the Dunmurry factory workers, who famously inscribed hidden messages within the car panels. Among these, we found a worker’s name and a date: October 7th.

And for the ultimate reveal for Back to the Future aficionados and DeLorean devotees alike: we can now officially disclose the previously unknown final four digits of this car’s VIN – 4775. This crucial number is inscribed on both door frames, aligning perfectly with the October 1981 production date for cars within this VIN range. Interestingly, this coincides with the production timeframe of the “A” car (VIN 5261) and our pristine Part III DeLorean (VIN 4689).

Stay tuned for more detailed images as we progress with the display setup. For now, these initial glimpses offer a taste of this incredible piece of movie history!
