Locally owned and operated, we have grown from our humble beginnings to encompass six warehouse locations strategically positioned across Tacoma, Lynnwood, Olympia, Auburn, Bremerton, and Bellingham. A Legacy of Service in Seattle’s Automotive Scene
The story of Seattle Automotive Distributing began in downtown Seattle on 7th and Westlake Avenue, a location that was, as our founder recalls, “in the afternoon shadow of the Westin Towers.” From day one, our focus has been on serving the backbone of the automotive repair industry: independent repair shops, dealerships, fleets, and jobbers.
Founded by Paul TeGantvoort, a seasoned parts manager with years of experience at local GM dealerships, Seattle Automotive Distributing initially focused on key product lines like AC Delco, Bendix, FelPro, A1-Cardone, and Federal Mogul / Sealed Power.
Our early days were marked by challenges and growth. Starting in a rented space, we quickly adapted and relocated to a larger facility in China Town, a former dry cleaning laundry, which was painstakingly transformed into a functional warehouse. This spirit of resourcefulness and dedication continues to define us.
Expanding our reach, in 1989, Paul acquired Gilchrist’s paint shop building in Tacoma, embarking on an expansion that broadened our delivery territory and welcomed new talent to the Seattle Automotive Distributing team. The early 1990s saw further growth with new locations opening in Everett/Lynnwood, followed by Olympia, Auburn, Bremerton, and Bellingham. Auburn now serves as our central distribution hub, housing our main offices and call center.
Our strength lies in our experienced and loyal team. We are proud to have 12 employees who have been with us for over 15 years, and 49 who have dedicated over 6 years to the company. At Seattle Automotive Distributing, we cultivate a fun, family-oriented work environment, believing that happy employees are the key to satisfied customers.
Throughout our history, we have valued building strong relationships with our customers and employees through memorable events such as our Annual Open Houses, Seafair Hydroplane races, Wild Waves Picnics, NHRA races, and sponsored vacation trips.
