Unleashing the Beast: The 2009 CTS-V and Its Journey to Domination

The 2009 CTS-V is renowned for its заводская power, but for enthusiasts seeking extreme performance, the modification journey is where the true potential is unlocked. This story follows one such journey, showcasing the evolution of a 2009 CTS-V from a formidable stock machine to a track-devouring monster.

Initially, with minimal modifications, this 2009 CTS-V demonstrated impressive capabilities. Running on E85 fuel and drag radial tires, while retaining factory rims and stock weight, it achieved a 10.49-second quarter-mile at 133.6 mph. Key upgrades at this stage included an A6 transmission with a 2.55 upper pulley, ID850 injectors, a 4.5″ intake, and a tune by Formato. Even with stock exhaust manifolds and hollowed catalytic converters, this setup delivered a dyno-proven 624 whp and 640 wtq, although track times suggested even more power.

The next phase saw significant enhancements focused on maximizing airflow and engine efficiency. Formato cylinder heads, a BT3 camshaft, ported components, and Stainless Works headers were installed. Fueling was further improved with a Formato ice tank and Varimax pump. This transformed the 2009 CTS-V into a true powerhouse, dynoing at 747 whp and 730 wtq on E85.

On the drag strip, these upgrades translated to a blistering 10.08-second quarter-mile at 139.5 mph, despite tire spin off the line. Even on stock 19-inch wheels and street tires, and with full street trim, the 2009 CTS-V consistently ran in the 10-second range at nearly 140 mph. The pursuit continues, with sights set on breaking into the 9-second zone and achieving a 140 mph quarter-mile – all while retaining the everyday drivability that defines the 2009 CTS-V.
