For those who aren’t following our updates on social media, we wanted to share some exciting news here as well. Back in 2013, BNR Performance was proud to contribute Bnr Car Parts, guidance, and tuning expertise to a Chevrolet Sonic RS project for Modified Magazine’s SEMA show. Alongside other leading aftermarket companies, we supplied some of our top-of-the-line components for what became a benchmark build in the Sonic RS community. At that time, the market for Sonic RS performance parts was still developing, but this build set a high standard.
Fast forward to 2017, we learned that the very same Sonic RS project car, despite low mileage, had unfortunately been neglected and was showing signs of wear and tear. Modified Magazine, no longer needing the vehicle, reached out to BNR Performance with an offer to sell it. We jumped at the opportunity! It’s not every day you get the chance to acquire a vehicle with such a significant SEMA and magazine feature history, especially at an incredible price.
The Sonic RS is currently still in California, but we’re making arrangements to have it transported back to us this week. Our mission is to restore this iconic car to its former glory and beyond. We plan to upgrade every aspect possible, utilizing the full range of bnr car parts we manufacture, as well as quality components from our trusted partner companies. Our vision is to transform this Sonic RS into a true performance machine, ready for hill climbs, drag racing, autocross, and more. It will definitely be built for performance first and foremost.
We will share photos once the car arrives, but for those who may not remember this impressive build:
