Walt’s Auto Inc. has been a cornerstone of the Springfield, Ohio, auto parts scene since 1960, evolving from Xenia Auto Wrecking and embodying the spirit of a pick-n-pull with decades of experience in used vehicle components. Founded by Walter P. Wyen after gaining valuable insights into the industry from 1936 to 1958, Walt’s Auto Inc. started on 32 acres of land with a vision to provide affordable and accessible auto parts to the community.
A History Rooted in Auto Salvage Expertise
Walter Wyen’s journey in the auto parts world began long before Walt’s Auto Inc. He honed his skills and knowledge as the owner of Xenia Auto Wrecking for over two decades. This early venture laid the groundwork for his future success. Recognizing an opportunity after his sons completed their education, Walter established Walt’s Auto Inc. in May 1960, marking the beginning of a long-standing family business in Springfield.
In the early days, like many salvage yards, Walt’s Auto Inc. relied on basic equipment such as torch wagons and boom trucks. As the business expanded, Walter demonstrated a commitment to modernization and efficiency. In 1977, he invested in significant upgrades, including a MAC crusher and a large forklift, enhancing the operational capabilities of the yard. Although Walter sadly passed away in 1979, his family continued his legacy, driving Walt’s Auto Inc. towards continued growth and success.
Embracing Technology for Enhanced Service
Walt’s Auto Inc. has consistently adopted advanced systems to improve inventory management and customer service, reflecting the organized approach you’d expect from a top-tier pick-n-pull operation. The introduction of the AIMS Inventory System marked a significant step forward, replacing manual tagging methods with organized digital tracking. This commitment to efficiency was further solidified in 1985 with the construction of a 20,000 square-foot facility. This modern building housed key business functions, including offices, sales areas, a showroom, warehouse, dismantling sections, and stockrooms, streamlining operations and enhancing customer experience.
The integration of the Hollander Computer System in 1986 further revolutionized inventory management at Walt’s Auto Inc. This system enabled even more effective tracking and organization of their extensive parts inventory, ensuring that customers looking for specific components could find them quickly and reliably. This dedication to organized inventory and efficient service positions Walt’s Auto Inc. as a prime destination for those seeking a pick-n-pull experience in Springfield, offering a wide selection of used car parts with a rich history of expertise and customer-focused service.
