Borderlands 3 offers a vast and explosive world, and getting around in style is part of the fun. Vehicle customization is a key aspect, and to truly trick out your ride, you need vehicle parts. This guide will show you all 10 Hijack Target locations in Borderlands 3. These challenges reward you with unique vehicle parts, essential for upgrading your cars and unlocking the “Mechani-Cool” trophy or achievement. While random enemy vehicles can drop parts, Hijack Targets guarantee specific, fixed upgrades. Let’s dive into how to find all these Borderlands 3 Ellie Car Parts and become a vehicle customization expert!
The vehicles obtained from these Hijack Target challenges provide fixed, unique upgrade parts, unlike random encounters which offer randomized parts. Reaching these vehicles often involves a bit of puzzle-solving, like climbing or activating power mechanisms. Once you’ve commandeered a Hijack Target vehicle, drive it to the nearest Catch-a-Ride station. There, you’ll unlock new vehicle upgrades such as body kits, paint jobs, driver weapons, armor, wheels, and mods. At any Catch-a-Ride station, you can then customize your Outrunner, Technical, or Cyclone with these newly acquired parts, giving you the edge in combat and style.
No Hijack Targets are missable! You can collect them all even after completing the main story in free-roam mode. To track your progress, check the map: uncollected Hijack Targets are marked in green, while collected ones appear as a faint blue. Alternatively, on the world map, press L3 / Left Stick and scroll to “Challenges” using D-Pad Right.
Hijack Targets appear on your map when you get close to their locations. If a location isn’t appearing, progress further in the main storyline, as these areas are unlocked naturally as you advance.
Remember: Hijack Targets are the source of 10 fixed and unique vehicle parts. However, numerous other parts can be obtained randomly by hijacking vehicles roaming the maps. Driving any stolen vehicle to a Catch-a-Ride station will reward you with parts. Each planet introduces vehicles with new and different parts to collect, so exploration is key!
#1 – Outrunner’s Heavy Armor
Location: Pandora, Ascension Bluff
To access this Hijack Target, locate the yellow power cable and interact with the button at its end (as seen in the screenshot). Activating this button will power up and open the nearby door, granting you access to the Outrunner and its Heavy Armor upgrade.
#2 – Technical’s Spike Wheels
Location: Pandora, Devil’s Razor
Devil’s Razor becomes accessible during your second visit to Pandora, specifically during the “Blood Drive” main mission. This Technical with Spike Wheels is perched on a rooftop. Climb the side of the building (refer to the screenshot) to reach the vehicle, then drive it off the roof to claim your prize.
#3 – Outrunner’s Zip Wheels
Location: Pandora, Devil’s Razor
This Outrunner with Zip Wheels is situated on a raised platform. Find the scaffold with yellow ledges beneath the vehicle (screenshot provided). Climb up this scaffold to reach the vehicle and then drive it off the ramp to secure the upgrade.
#4 – Technical’s Tire Launcher
Location: Pandora, The Splinterlands
Located within the Homestead area of The Splinterlands, this Hijack Target requires you to activate a button connected to a yellow electricity cable. This button is located on top of the building where the Technical is parked. Climb the building to find the button (screenshot provided), press it to open the garage door, and claim the Technical’s Tire Launcher.
#5 – Technical Sticky Mines
Location: Promethea, Meridian Outskirts
This Hijack Target in Meridian Outskirts can be a bit tricky to spot initially, as the marker may only appear when you are very close. However, reaching it is straightforward. Simply use the yellow ledges (as shown in the screenshot) to climb up to the vehicle and acquire the Technical Sticky Mines upgrade.
#6 – Cyclone’s Sonic Booster
Location: Promethea, Meridian Metroplex
The Cyclone with the Sonic Booster is protected by a yellow energy barrier in Meridian Metroplex. To disable this barrier, you need to “fix” the yellow power cable connected to it. Follow the cable and shoot the three red targets located above it on the pipes (screenshots provided). This action will cause water to flow, electrifying the gaps in the cable. After hitting all three targets, interact with the power button at the energy barrier to deactivate it and access the vehicle.
#7 – Outrunner’s Razor Wings
Location: Eden-6, Floodmoor Basin
This Hijack Target in Floodmoor Basin is one of the more challenging ones. Reaching the Outrunner and its Razor Wings requires a precise jump from a ramp located on the cliffs above (refer to the screenshot, near Knotty Peak). Climbing directly to the vehicle is impossible. This is a long jump, so use your vehicle’s boost, but be careful with your speed – going too fast or too slow could cause you to miss or even destroy the vehicle upon impact. The Cyclone is generally considered the best vehicle for this particular jump.
#8 – Cyclone’s Wide Wheel
Location: Eden-6, Floodmoor Basin
For this Cyclone Wide Wheel upgrade in Floodmoor Basin, navigate around the corner of the building where the vehicle is located. You’ll find a “balcony” area where the vehicle is parked. Simply jump to this balcony to reach the Cyclone and drive it away.
#9 – Cyclone’s Digithruster
Location: Nekrotafeyo, Desolation’s Edge
This Hijack Target in Desolation’s Edge is straightforward. The Cyclone with Digithruster is housed in a garage covered in red vines. Simply use a melee attack to destroy these vines, clearing the entrance and allowing you to access the vehicle.
#10 – Outrunner’s Energy Cell
Location: Nekrotafeyo, Desolation’s Edge
The final Hijack Target, the Outrunner with Energy Cell, is found in Desolation’s Edge behind a yellow energy barrier. To disable this barrier, locate the three yellow power cables connected to it. Follow each cable to its end and shoot the generator there (screenshots provided). Destroying all three generators will deactivate the energy barrier, giving you access to the vehicle.
That concludes all 10 Hijack Target Vehicle Challenges in Borderlands 3! By completing these, you’ll have unlocked a significant number of unique vehicle parts to customize your rides at any Catch-a-Ride station, enhancing your Borderlands 3 experience and getting you closer to that “Mechani-Cool” achievement.
