From humble beginnings in 1936, our journey in the automotive parts industry has been deeply rooted in Springfield. It began with Walter P. Wyen’s ownership of Xenia Auto Wrecking, where he cultivated invaluable expertise in used vehicle components for over two decades. This foundational experience paved the way for a new chapter. In May 1960, after his sons completed their education, Walter established Walt’s Auto Inc. He strategically purchased 32 acres in Springfield, Ohio, setting the stage for a business that would become synonymous with Springfield Cars And Parts.
Initially, operations at Walt’s Auto Inc. mirrored the practices of other salvage yards of the era, relying on torch wagons and boom trucks. However, Walter’s vision extended beyond the conventional. As the demand for reliable Springfield cars and parts grew, he recognized the need for modernization. In 1977, a significant upgrade was implemented with the acquisition of advanced equipment, including a MAC crusher and a heavy-duty forklift. Sadly, Walter passed away in the summer of 1979, but his commitment to quality Springfield car parts and exceptional service lived on through his family, who ensured the continued success of Walt’s Auto Inc.
Further advancements were embraced to enhance efficiency and customer service. The introduction of the AIMS Inventory System marked a pivotal shift towards organized inventory management, moving away from traditional tags and cards. This commitment to improvement culminated in 1985 with the construction of our current 20,000 square-foot facility. This purpose-built space houses our offices, sales and showroom areas, a comprehensive warehouse, dismantling operations, and a well-organized stockroom, all dedicated to providing Springfield with a wide selection of car and truck parts.

In 1986, recognizing the increasing complexity of inventory and the need for even more efficient parts lookup, Walt’s Auto Inc. integrated the Hollander Computer System. This strategic investment further streamlined our operations, allowing us to meticulously track and manage our extensive inventory of Springfield cars and parts. This dedication to utilizing cutting-edge technology ensures that we can quickly and accurately locate the exact parts our customers need. For generations, Walt’s Auto Inc. has been a trusted source for Springfield cars and parts, built on a foundation of experience, adaptation, and a steadfast commitment to serving the automotive needs of the Springfield community.
